高村光太郎の『レモン哀歌』を訳してみた。
はっきり言ってむずかしい。
You were very wanting for a lemon.
On a sorrowing bed of pearly white,
A lemon received from my hand,
Your fairly beautiful teethes gnawed.
And topaz-colored scent diffused.
A few drops of the heavenly lemon
Flashily had you back to conscious.
Your eyes to the blue skies slightly smiled.
How firm was your hand holding mine!
Though a disease in your breath fatal,
On a brink of the dying moment,
CHIEKO was, as usual,
Dedicating a life-long love to me.
Then the next moment,
With a deep breathing as did on the mountain crest,
Your beating of heart had stopped.
In a shadow of arranged cherries fore of your picture,
I put a shiny lemon today as usual.
